World Health Day 2025, AIKEYME Naval Exercise, RBI Updates – 7th April Current Affairs

Economy:

India wants to keep its growth between 6.3% and 6.8%. This comes after the U.S. added a 26% tariff on Indian goods. The new tax may hurt Indian exports. Economists, like Goldman Sachs, have lowered India’s growth forecast. They now expect growth to be around 6.1%. This is because exports may slow down.

The government may help affected sectors. Diamond exports are likely to get support. Relief packages may be announced soon. These steps will protect jobs and trade. India still hopes to grow steadily. The focus is now on strong local support and reforms.

Monetary Policy:

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) may cut interest rates soon. Experts say rates could go down to 5.5% by the end of the year. This move is to reduce the impact of U.S. tariffs on Indian goods. Lower rates can help boost the economy.

Cheaper loans may support businesses and people. It can also increase spending and investments. The RBI is watching inflation and global trends. If needed, more steps may be taken to support growth.

Appointments:

Poonam Gupta has been chosen as the new Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. She will work in this role for three years. Her experience will help the RBI during this important time.

She has worked with the World Bank and the IMF. She is also part of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council. Her knowledge of global finance will support India’s money and economic plans.

Infrastructure:

The new Pamban Rail Bridge has been opened in Tamil Nadu. It is 2.07 km long and built with modern technology.

The bridge has a vertical lift span of 17 meters. This allows ships to pass easily while trains continue to run smoothly. It will help both rail and sea transport in the region.

International Naval Cooperation:

India and ten African countries will take part in a naval exercise called AIKEYME 2025. It will happen in April 2025 near Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Indian Navy and Tanzania’s Navy will host this event together.

The aim is to improve safety and teamwork in the Indian Ocean. There will be training on search and rescue, stopping pirates, and checking ships. This event will help India and African countries work better together and keep the sea safe.
